Privacy in Samtakt
Last updated: 02.10.2026
Who is responsible
Saurav (saurav.no) is the data controller for Samtakt. Questions about
privacy go to pysaurav@gmail.com.
What we store, and why
- Your account: your email address, your display name and a
password we cannot read. They are used to sign you in and to show the others
in your home who you are.
- What you add to your home: lists and items, the calendar
(including who an event is for, and when someone is away), dates, dinners,
notes, links and the House (wifi name and password, practical information and
contacts with phone numbers). Everyone in the home sees this.
- Shopping list history: what was added, bought, changed or removed,
by whom and when, including the names of items later deleted. We keep it so
we can give better suggestions later. It is not used for anything else today,
and it is deleted when the home is deleted.
- Invitations: a code that gives access to the home.
- Reports: if you report content, we store which content, your
reason and that it was you.
- “I'm shopping”: that you are shopping, and when you started and
finished. The others see it for at most an hour.
- Notifications, only if you turn them on: a notification key for
your phone, which kinds of notification you want, the phone's language, and
when and how you said yes or no.
- Technical logs: the server logs requests and errors to keep the
service running and secure. We do not use them for tracking.
The wifi password is stored as plain text in the database, which is
encrypted on disk. Only you in the home and we who run the service can see it.
Notifications
Notifications are off until you turn them on in the app, and apply only to
the phone you turn them on for. Before you turn them on, the app shows what
you will get and what is stored. We record when you said yes, on which phone,
with which button and which text you saw, so we can show that you consented.
A notification only says who is shopping, never what is on the list or
anything from House. Turn them off under You → Notifications and the key
is deleted at once; turn them off in iPhone Settings and it is deleted the
next time you open the app. It is also deleted when you log out or delete
your account.
Information about others
If you add information about others, such as your landlord's phone number
or a friend's birthday, we store it for you and the people you live with. Add
only what you need. The person concerned can ask us for access or deletion.
Avoid writing health information or other sensitive information in notes and
lists.
Links
When you save a link, our server fetches the page title. The website then
sees our server's address, not yours.
Legal basis
- Providing the service you asked for: contract (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)).
- Technical logs, reports and the shopping list history: our legitimate
interest in a safe service that gets better (art. 6(1)(f)). You can object.
- Information about others that you add: our legitimate interest in letting
you run your home together (art. 6(1)(f)).
- Notifications: your consent (art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time.
Who gets access
The other members of your home, and the suppliers who run the service for
us (processors):
- Supabase: database, sign-in and sign-up email
- Railway: the server that runs Samtakt
- Expo and Apple: deliver notifications, only if you turn them on
We do not sell data, show no ads and use no tracking, analytics or cookies.
Where the data lives
The database is in Ireland and the server in the Netherlands. Supabase,
Railway and Expo are US companies and may process data from the US for
operations and support. This is covered by the EU standard contractual clauses
and/or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
- Account and content: until you delete your account.
- A home you leave as the last member: the home is closed. Its content is
kept until you delete your account, when it is deleted too, or on request.
This applies to homes closed from 02.10.2026; older closed homes are deleted
on request.
- “I'm shopping”: until you leave the home or delete your account.
- The notification key: until you turn notifications off, log out or delete
your account. The consent log is deleted with the account.
- Deleted data may remain in backups for a short time before it is overwritten.
Delete your account
Delete your account in the app under You → Delete account. That deletes
your email address, your account, your notifications and consent log, all
content in homes where you are the only member, and homes you left as the last
member. Content in homes you share with others stays with them, without your
name.
Your rights
You can ask for access and a copy of your data in a common file format,
have mistakes corrected, have data deleted or restricted, and object to
processing based on legitimate interest. Email
pysaurav@gmail.com. We reply within a
month. You can also complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority
(datatilsynet.no).
Age limit
Samtakt is for people aged 16 or older.
Changes
We will tell you in the app about significant changes.
